Size (and Quality) Matters

Many people get a new camera for better quality photos than their old compact model (or phone camera) can produce. Choosing the largest picture size and best quality image settings from the camera's menus helps ensure the best picture your camera can record.

In most models the menu options for picture size and quality exist under the camera or shooting menu. In Canon cameras the appropriate choices are found under the Quality menu. Image size can be listed in megapixels (6M), pixel dimensions (3072x2048) or letters (L, M, S). Picture quality can be various symbols or words (Fine, Normal, Basic) depending on camera brand. Check the camera manual for a guide to the symbols used.
