What's Your Foreground?

Especially when photographing the broad scene, we often forget to include something interesting in the foreground. This leaves our pictures feeling ho-hum. An effective foreground is related to the background in a logical way.

The swimming raft fills in the foreground in this sunrise reflection shot.

Often you need to get down low and move close to your foreground subject for it to stand out in the scene.

I placed the camera low and close to these lupine blooms
to emphasize them in this landscape scene.
