Light is essential for photography. But too often we are worried about having enough light instead of the most appropriate type of light. This is especially true of portraits. Instead of photographing your model in bright sun where highlights wash out skin tones and shadows hide eyes, move your subject into the shade of a building so she is enveloped by soft, gentle light. The results will please both of you.
