Photograph People in Midday Light

On your vacation travels, you want to record family and friends enjoying the trip. To get good shots when the sun is high in the sky midday, turn your subjects so their backs are to the sun. This creates a nice halo of light around them. Then add a pop of light from the built-in flash to add a sparkle to their eyes. No one has to squint into bright sun and you avoid the problem of dark shadows and overly bright highlights on the face.

The sun is behind the group and a pop of flash keeps them from disappearing into silhouettes.
