Fall Arrives #4

Cottonwood Grove in Afternoon Light
Seeley Lake, Montana

After I left the aspen grove, I didn't find much color until I noticed this group of trees. The orange-red tree near the center really caught my eye because we have few native trees that display reds in the fall. This subject was even farther away beyond a fence (I was, after all, in ranching country), so I needed a zoom lens to isolate the special trees. I also used a polarizing filter because the light was coming from the left. Using the filter intensified the colors in both the sky and the trees. I just needed to wait a few minutes for a gust of wind to die down so I could capture the leaves sharply.
