If you want to create a feeling of being in a specific place, using a normal focal length lens can be useful. Because it does not exaggerate perspective the way wide angle or telephoto focal lengths can, a normal lens makes your viewer feel like they are actually at the location.
What focal length is a normal lens depends on the sensor in the camera. For full frame models, a 50mm lens is normal. For APS cameras, 35mm is a normal focal length. And for Four-thirds cameras, 25mm is normal.
