The Decisive Moment in Landscapes

We tend to think of decisive moments as happening during sporting events. But they can occur any time you are photographing a moving subject. 

For this photo, I wanted to capture a wave crashing against the rocky shore. Using Continuous Drive, I took a series of frames and later selected the picture with the best spray. Just like in sports action, I anticipated the wave's arrival and began shooting before the water met the rocks and continued after the wave passed the outcrop.
