Include a Person in Your Landscape Photo

Fly Fishermen on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River
Glacier National Park, Montana

It is often difficult to convey the distance in a landscape image. One way to add interest as well as scale is to include a human in the scene. I was fortunate while photographing this view to have two fly fishermen wade across the river and stand separated on the far bank. Their small size in the frame along with the distant hill and sky obscured by snow helps the scene feel expansive.
