Lead Your Viewer Through the Picture

Japanese Garden, Washington Park Arboretum
Seattle, Washington

Our pictures can be stronger when we help our viewers experience more of the image. Using a path or other line that extends from the foreground to the background gives the photo a sense of depth and distance as well as encouraging viewers to explore the whole picture.

Learn more about leading lines and other techniques to strengthen your photos, whether taken with a traditional camera or your phone. Fundamentals of Photo Composition meets for 1 day on April 20, 2024, at the Lifelong Learning Center in Missoula, Montana. Find more info and register here.
