Variation on a Theme

Weeping Cherry Tree
University of Montana Arboretum, Missoula

In yesterday's post I shared a portrait of a weeping cherry tree in bloom. It is a traditional vertical shot of a vertical subject. But it didn't include as much of the flowers as I would have liked. So I tried another version in which I framed the branches and hanging blossoms horizontally. The sidewalk created a plain, light background that added to the high key, bright effect. If your first shot doesn't satisfy you, try a variation that concentrates attention on your main idea.
