Doctor Anson Jones was the owner of Barrington Plantation. Originally from Massachusetts, Jones arrived in Texas in 1832 and found success with his medical practice in Brazoria. He married Mary Smith Jones in 1840 and they had four children. Jones became involved in politics and was often away from the plantation, so his wife oversaw the farm in his absence.
