After the balsamroot starts to fade, the arnica wildflower blooms. It is part of the sunflower family like the arrowleaf balsamroot, so you might easily confuse one for the other. Balsamroot grows in groups of flowers; arnica grows one flower by itself. Altogether we have about two months of yellow blossoms to feast our eyes on and record with our cameras.
