I was used to seeing yucca cactus flower stalks when I lived in Nevada years ago. So I was surprised to see this amazing stalk of flowers growing from a clump of what looked more like grass than cactus. Turns out there is a cultivated variety of yucca palm that is hardy enough for Montana winters. The striking blossoms were a fitting subject for black & white.
