One of the easiest ways to get variety in your photo stream is to shoot both horizontal and vertical pictures of your chosen subject. The horizontal version works well on computer screens; the vertical version is often better in social media feeds. By taking two pictures of every scene, you develop your eye for which orientation works better for different subjects.

For traditional cameras, when holding the camera horizontally is more comfortable, the best time to take a vertical is right after you shoot that horizontal. For smartphone cameras, which we generally hold vertically, the best time to shoot a horizontal is right after you take that vertical photo. Take two either way; they're free!
