Garnet, Montana, a preserved ghost town, has lots of artifacts on display in its buildings. They always make me imagine what it was like to live in this mining town.
One way to create the idea of past memories is to use soft focus effects. For this photograph, I made two frames in the camera: one in sharp focus and one out of focus, blurred enough to remove fine details but retain the shapes of the bottles. Then I layered them together in Photoshop, producing the Orton effect. By thinking about how you feel about the subject or what it reminds you of instead of just what it looks like, you can expand your creative results.
