Eliminate Unused Keywords from Lightroom Classic's Catalog

As we review and delete unwanted images from our Lightroom Classic catalogs, we can end up with keywords in Lightroom's Keyword List that don't belong to any pictures. These appear with a zero (0) after the keyword.

Unused keyword likely from a typo

There are two ways to get rid of these keywords that don't have any photos associated with them. In the Library module, open the Keyword List panel. For the occasional straggler, you can right+click (Control+Click for Mac) on the keyword and choose Delete.

To eliminate all unused keywords, from the Metadata menu choose Purge Unused Keywords. Lightroom scans the keyword list and eliminates any keywords not linked to an image.
