While scouting for a snowy venue close to Missoula, I made my first visit to the Pattee Canyon Trailhead in the foothills above the town. It was a rare clear day with ample sunshine that made a walk through the ponderosa and larch pine forest beautiful. This first image gives an overall view of the area.
