Summer Photo Classes in Missoula Return

The Lifelong Learning Center is offering in-person classes again, starting in July. I'm scheduling two courses.

Night Photography - Exploring the World After Dark
6:30-8:30pm, July 7 - August 18, 2020

Digital cameras have an amazing ability to see in the dark. In this course, you explore the advanced techniques necessary to record pictures of urban and nature scenes after the sun goes down. You learn how to focus in the dark, determine an appropriate exposure for night pictures, work with the colors of artificial lights, and create successful images of the moon and stars. You also learn how to use Adobe Lightroom Classic and Adobe Photoshop to make your night photographs look their best. An interchangeable lens camera with manual controls for aperture, shutter speed and ISO, Bulb exposure mode, raw file capture, and a wired cable release as well as a tripod are required. Experience with Adobe Lightroom Classic and Adobe Photoshop are recommended. This class meets every other week so you have two weeks to complete each practice.

Exploring Photo Ideas
6:30-8:30pm, July 9 - August 20, 2020

In an era of social distancing, we have new limitations on where we can photograph. In this playful class we explore the kinds of images you can create in your own home, whether that is an apartment, a house with a yard, or a ranch with many acres. For each class you photograph a different theme, such as looking out, in your kitchen, and toys, all without leaving your residence. You see suggestions and get tips for making pictures of these topics. The next class you share your results and see what everyone else created. Come expand your ideas of where you can make good photographs and have fun! This class meets every other week, so you have two weeks to complete each practice.

Class size is limited to six people to keep everyone safe, so register early!
