Creative Shutter Speed -- Panning

Coastal Abstract, Oregon

I created this abstract pattern of light and dark blue and orange stripes by intentionally moving the camera from side to side horizontally during a 8/10 second exposure. Doing so turned the waves and the sunset sky into a pattern of lines and color. This technique is variously called panning or intentional camera movement. Regardless of what you name it, the effect can result in unique images.
