Remember to make some images that show the location of the carnival rides you are photographing. Here there is a booth with stuffed animal prizes, several rides spinning in the background and people "filling in" the foreground.
As the light levels drop, you need to pay attention to getting a shutter speed fast enough for sharp hand-held images. This often means you need to both open the aperture wide and raise the ISO to achieve your goal. I used a 1/25 second shutter speed, an f/4 aperture and an 800 ISO with a 24mm stabilized lens to create this photo.
