Capturing Fall Colors

River Point Recreation Area
Seeley Lake, Montana

Fall colors are enticing to our eyes, but our cameras need the right settings to capture the vibrance. One of the most important settings is White Balance. Most people leave this control set to Automatic, but it can make vibrant autumn hues dull and unappealing. If your fall subjects are in the sun, switch the White Balance setting to the sun symbol. If you are photographing under cloudy skies, as I did when creating this image, change the White Balance to the cloud icon. In either case, your fall colors will shine more intensely.
