Smith Tower & Sign Pioneer Square, Seattle, Washington |
While on my 1992 visit, I took a tour of Pioneer Square and the Underground. Without realizing it, I made a photograph of a historically significant building, Smith Tower. Built in 1914, it remained the tallest building on the West Coast until the Space Needle was built in 1962 for the World's Fair.
I like the juxtaposition of the unique sign along with the iconic building. It's a much more interesting photograph than the snapshot of part of the Seattle skyline I made later.
