In addition to photographing the walkway environmentally and an intimate portrait of the creek or waterfall, our workshop leader asked us to create an abstract photograph in the canyon. The two photos in my previous posts combined with this detail shot help tell a more complete story of the canyon as it was then. Using a long 70-200mm lens, I isolated this collection of lichen growing on the canyon wall opposite where I stood on the walkway. Much of the rocky cliff face was covered with similar growths of lichen.
