As I was setting up for this image, a loon swam silently past in the dawn hush and then called. An answering call came from across the lake. One more call and response and the near bird dove beneath the glassy surface. I did not see where it came up. A magical moment!
To create this photo, I made three vertical images and merged them using Adobe Lightroom Classic's Merge to Panorama. Shooting vertically helped me include all of the mountains and their reflections in better proportion to the width of the image.
