Today I'm teaching my Fundamentals of Photo Composition class in Missoula, Montana. Before making this picture with my phone camera, I rearranged the empty cups to form a triangle. Including odd numbers of items or finding triangles or circles created by your subjects are ways to create more interest in your pictures. Odd numbers tend to create asymmetry which can be more visually interesting than symmetry. And shapes like triangles provide organization to a chaotic visual world.
