Rock, ice & frost flowers along the Bitterroot River Missoula, Montana |
After two weeks of below freezing weather under a temperature inversion, amazing hoar frost formations appeared along the edges of the flowing Bitterroot River. I set my camera on a tripod and pointed the lens straight down to compose this shot. With the camera on a tripod, I zoomed in to isolate this portion and took the shot with the 2-second timer. I made some slight exposure adjustments with editing software to recover detail in the frost at the bottom of the frame. Truly amazing creations by Mother Nature!
