Shallow depth of field is one way to call visual attention to your subject. For this image, I used a 70-200mm lens at 200mm and set the aperture to f/5.6. When I focused on my chosen camas blossom, the foreground and background became blurry. Because we ignore areas that are out of focus, our eye goes directly to the flower I chose.
