A Photo a Day -- April 1, 2026

During the month of April this year, I challenged myself to take at least one picture a day. Some days I forgot until it was late and dark. Some days the picture was a record shot of things I was shopping for or otherwise documenting. But many days I took more than one frame and had lots to choose from. I used both a smartphone camera and a traditional camera.

If you want to try this challenge yourself, you can use any camera. You can shoot on auto or manual or semi-automatic exposure mode. The point is to practice seeing with a photographic eye. And you'll have opportunities for unexpected shots that you would have missed without consciously looking for pictures every day. In the process, you may learn more about using your camera of choice, too!

My first pictures were made of the launch of Artemis II, the first manned mission to the moon in 50 years. I used my smartphone to photograph the scenes on my LED television. No need for special settings as in the days of analog televisions and film cameras!
